TQH Amsterdam | Medical Qigong

Moving-Energy-Arts for the benefit of your Physical, Personal and Spiritual Development.

Urban life can present several challenges to our health due to its fast-paced, often demanding nature. We hustle and bustle through our modern lives, managing our agendas, rushing to the office, teaching our children to “schiet op”, having coffees on the go whilst feeding our digital cravings. Meanwhile, the marketing machinery treats us to 5000+ commercial messages daily, presenting us with options of what to buy — silently “frying” our brains. Day after day.

We tend to seek solutions outside of us: The meditation app, The Menstruation app, The Sleep app, the Fitbits apps. Think about it for a moment: Your phone telling you if you’re fit, if you’ve had enough sleep, if you’ve burned calories— health expressed just in numbers?! Numbers to feed a marketing machinery, which we even choose to pay for… Meanwhile our offices present us with ergonomic workstations, and we have been made to believe in the phenomenon of work-life balance.

But how is your body balance actually doing? What is the state of the natural ergonomics of your body? How can one sense calm in the midst of noise-pollution? How can one find relief from that lower back pain? The ergonomic chair is not going to solve this for you! Work-Life balance apps are also not saving you from stress. And how is your next holiday going to save you from your anxiety you might experience today?

  • Learn to unlearn postural habits which might have caused your (frozen) shoulder, neck or lower back pain.
  • Learn to unlearn imbalance in your life by recognising thinking habits which might have captivated you in a stressful reality.
  • Learn to be present, balanced and rooted to give headspace which leads to create clear(er) intentions.
  • Learn how to heal through an easy and fun to learn energy-motion practice based on ancient wisdom.

As a teacher, I conduct classes in the TQH Qigong System in a private setting. My expertise lies in empowering individuals of all ages to flourish amidst the urban hustle. Through precise movements, skilful breathing, and focused intention, our system hones in on the root cause of your symptoms to attain stress relief, energy balance, immune empowerment, pain alleviation, and emotional resilience.

Consider TQH Amsterdam as a gateway to “The Art of Balance”, connecting ancient wisdom with contemporary well-being and exploring the body-mind-spirit connection. Grounded in Medical Qigong and Chinese Medicine, the Thai Qi Holistics (TQH) system carries the richness of an ancient tradition passed down through many generations.

Qigong for Healing

I welcome my students into my sunny living room dojo, where I conduct lessons for small groups, typically comprising no more than two to four individuals. This intimate setting ensures that you receive personalized guidance and Qigong practices to address your medical conditions holistically, fostering a safe space for your ongoing growth and development.

Unlike manual therapists who provide treatments, TQH Qigong is an experiential learning method. The practice guides you towards unwinding the root causes through an in-depth study of optimal movement, breath, and awareness.

About TQH

Thai Qi Holistics is a clinic and education center located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, established by my teacher, Ajahn Toh, a doctor of Chinese medicine and Qi Gong master. As a recognized mentor, Ajahn Toh guides patients and students in cultivating a higher awareness of self. Within the Thai Buddhist community, he holds a highly esteemed position as a holistic doctor, integrating ancient medical wisdom with locally inherited Buddhist values to create a more dynamic and holistic approach.

Our global community is dedicated to studying and practicing the TQH Qigong system for the well-being of ourselves, our students and patients. With locations spanning Bali, Korea, New York, Pakistan, Japan, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and the UK, our network is expansive. Teachers from these diverse places regularly come together multiple times a week to refine our practice under the guidance of our teacher, Ajahn Toh.

My Story.

Guido Porten (1974)

The graphic artist who teaches moving energy-arts.

Rooted in graffiti, my journey has been a path of growth and self-discovery, leading through 25 years of experience at renowned German, Dutch, and international agencies. (Brand, Activation & Digital) which nurtured my growth as a strategic brand professional and served as a catalyst for my personal development.

Yet my career – unlike many others – have lead to a burnout and life invited me to embark on my “beautiful burnout” journey. While western systems and allopathic medicine  seemed to revolve only around the reintegration process – read: when can you work again – my artistic approach in life led to seek healing beyond the ordinary.

It was the summer of 2018 during my personal healing quest in Bali, where I crossed paths with my teacher Ajahn Toh through the guidance of my longtime spiritual mentor, holistic healer, and Qigong teacher, Elisa Senese. Following a transformative three-week instructor retreat, where I was both a participant and a patient, I was graciously invited to pursue the instructor course training in Chiang Mai Thailand.

Meanwhile my studies continue ever since. And to cut a long story short – without delving into words trying to describe the self discovery of deeper layers of my own body by sensing and directing energy, with the right intention, through precise meditative motion, whilst opening my meridian channels, skilful breathing, advanced motion, which looks like martial art but actually is not – I’m happy to say that teaching qigong has become a big part of my weekly schedule. Grateful to share my knowledge as a teacher, guiding students to build resilience, address discomforts, and practice patience.

We teach. We learn.
